MSF FT Recruiting

Currently an MSF student at a target school. My understanding is that FT recruiting for BB/MM roles tends to pick up after SA programs wrap up. Curious if anyone is hearing something similar (or different) from networking calls this cycle?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, full-time (FT) recruiting for BB (Bulge Bracket) and MM (Middle Market) roles typically begins after summer analyst (SA) programs conclude. Historically, BBs and EBs (Elite Boutiques) start their FT recruiting in mid-August through early September, primarily focusing on their SA class and any remaining hiring needs. MMs usually kick off their FT recruiting in September, with Superdays occurring from late September through mid-October.

However, it's worth noting that FT recruiting can be highly competitive and unpredictable. Many banks prioritize their intern return offers, leaving limited spots for external candidates. Networking calls may reveal that some firms are hesitant to commit to external hiring due to high intern return rates or overstaffing. This trend has been observed across BBs, EBs, and MMs in recent cycles.

If you're targeting FT roles, it's crucial to stay proactive, network extensively, and explore opportunities beyond IB, as other finance roles may also be recruiting during this period.
