Need some advice with a 2 year plan

I've known for a while that I've wanted to go into IB. Due to a few screwups in the past few years, I'm now entering the middle of my junior year at a non-target (DePaul) after having just transferred in the beginning of this school year.

About me: -3.6 GPA (on an upward trend over the past few years) -Currently in an open-ended internship for a small company that I love, doing Financial Analysis on large companies. Boss is ex-Credit Suisse and First Boston IB as well -Going to declare a Finance Honors major and Accounting minor -Ultimate goal is IB at a BB firm.

So, I guess I'm wondering, aside from networking my ass off, what should I be doing now/shooting for? Should I go for a last-minute summer analyst position, or try to find a smaller boutique internship, or just try to go for an analyst position after I graduate? Or get my MBA at a target and a CFA and try to get in then?

Sounds like you'd be a pretty solid candidate, just a bit late to the game. You're probably too late for BB this summer, but it's still worth applying/reaching out to some people. See if your CS guy can put you in touch with anyone.

In terms of what to do this summer, it probably makes the most sense to focus on boutique IB. It sounds like you have a pretty interesting story, but I think at this point if you want to do BB IB sooner rather than later, you need to have an "IB or bust" mentality for the summer. Luckily most boutiques are in full-on recruiting mode around this time so you should be in good shape. I would start reaching out to everyone you can ASAP.

One more question: I have an interview at B of A on campus for a Credit Analyst position in NYC this summer. This is a position I would probably not take, but it can't hurt to interview. Should I use this opportunity at all to ask about IB positions/express my interest in the IB program?

So I read online and this is the position: (apparently I can't post links, but if you google b of a summer wholesale credit analyst program, it's the first result)

It seems to me like it supports a lot of Global Investment Banking positions, so I figured the recruiter might have some connections.
