Networking at a boutique bank
So I was networkimg at this bank (one of those with no websites and such) and reached out to a senior person who agreed to speak with me.
The call seemed to be going well when suddenly he put me on hold for another call and then abruptly told me that a junior on the team was reviewing my resume and will reach out and then the senior person will be in touch again next week.
This just was weird bc nothing like this has happened before and it was all just abrupt. I also tried asking the junior’s name but he would only give me his background and no name. Is this a ding?
Normally, I would say this is a big positive, but if the firm has no website, I would be skeptical. IB is not like a HF where you only need a website for regulatory purposes and where clients find you based on your track record. Unless this is Allen & Co or some other nichey yet top-notch boutique, a lack of a website for an IB is a concern.
It’s a top notch boutique that’s why I’m not too worried about them not having a website but that just makes it harder to network so I didn’t want to mess up on an opportunity I got
So Allen & Co
