No Chance?

Hey everyone, I am a senior with a 3.75 gpa graduating in May from a non-target. My only "internship" experience is marketing/bringing clients in/etc at a luxury car dealership. I've applied to about 30 banks, but my overall networking has been less than stellar.

The more research I do, the more I realize that I don't stand a chance of breaking into investment banking. I really just don't know what to do. Does it look hopeless for me? I don't know what else in finance to look into.

Sorry for taking the "woe is me" route. Thanks in advance for the advice.

No worries you still have a chance to break in: 1. Look at Master in Finance programs (Europe & US) 2. Start Networking to find a boutique which will give you an internship 3. Take a gap year and do several internships and then go for MSF 4. Start applying to roles at Big 4 or other finance related roles and try to lateral after 1-3 years.

Thank you for your response. I was under the impression that moving into a different area of finance would actually lower my chances of breaking in, considering the emphasis that is placed on recruiting directly out of undergrad.

That may be the case, which is why I would advise you to go for an MSF.
