Nobody is checking the numbers
Recently hit the desk ~2 months ago. I've began to realize that my associates aren't really checking my numbers at all. I only know so much, and so far, no one has challenged any numbers I've done and stuff has gone out to clients, but I feel so weird about not having anyone really check my comps/calculations. Gives me anxiety at night just thinking about a situation where a client asks an MD something and he/she realizes I fucked it up. Should I be asking my associates to review my calculations directly? I don't want them to think I need handholding but I know that mistakes are inevitable. Isn't my work also their responsibility to check completely before it moves up the chain?
There is nothing wrong about asking as it is their job. However, if a giant fuck up happens in a slide sent to a client, you'll be scolded for that.

Lmao as long as the deal gets closed....
Don't worry, if the numbers are wrong no one is going to blame a first year analyst
Associate is playing with fire and will get burned eventually. There will inevitably come a time when client questions the numbers, MD will come to realization that there's a glaring error, and then the internal blame game ensues. It's in the junior team's best interests to have all work checked and re-checked before being sent to client.
