Normal for students to strike out at a target?

I see a lot of split sentiment at a lot of target schools (non HYPSM/W) that "everyone who seriously recruits for IB makes it" vs "only 3/5 of my classmates who seriously recruit make it" idk who to believe, placement numbers aren't very helpful because you don't know the number of people who seriously recruit and some of these numbers are way off/count placements outside of IBD

If you have the hustle to make it into a target for academics, and you have no issues socially making friends etc (that’s all networking is), then I’d say it’s extremely extremely rare to strike out. My friends at top targets landed top BBs with no internship experience and no clubs - you just don’t hear about it on here as much.

^ and also, do not let the arbitrary statistics get in your head. Keep your head down and keep working hard and something will land
