1) banking and int finance would place best in IB. MSC Finance is second. 2) LBS is #1 in London + Europe clear cut. Would put Cass in the second-tier in Europe (LSE slightly ahead), Cass is very well respected in the city (think NYU) 3) If you want to work outside of Europe, LBS or LSE are in another league vs everyone else.
Did the Investment Management program; got some solid offers post graduation in NYC. Can PM me if you want details
Also did MSc Investment Management. It's a good school but you should have a relevant internship or 2 before you go to give yourself the best chance
Thanks to both of you! @"bryan521", will PM you for details, thanks for helping me out.
I already have two M&A internships (one at a top bank), so I hope this will be enough for recruiting after a 1yr. Master..
Just out of curiosity, do MSc students in 1 year programs apply for grad roles (analyst positions) or summer internships after their Master's degree? I understand that FT recruiting in London is done almost entirely out of summer analyst pools, right?
Thank you guys!

I'm thinking of applying to Cass' MSc in Banking and International Finance program. I also hear a lot of mixed reviews ranging from the very negative to the very positive. Some say in terms of recruiting it's on par with the very best, some say it's not that great of a program and isn't worth a penny.
I read somewhere that a lot of people with non-finance/economics/management undergrad degrees get accepted into these master programs that Cass offers so it's perhaps those people in particular that have trouble finding FT offers, whereas people that have a finance/econ/managment undergrad and have undertaken 1 or 2 finance-related internships before hand have no issue finding FO gigs.
I myself have two internships, one BO internship, one FO internship, in two different BB, so I'm hopeful if I were to apply.
Yeah good point on internships/work experience. If you have 1-4 years work experience the program is great because you can have a lot of options coming out and work on the buy side or IB. Plus you are in London and can leverage that network.
On the downside know someone that had no work experience in Finance and didn't land anything.
Thats how it differs from an MBA..more specialized but wont help you go from an engineering gig to a hedge fund or at lest in my US opinion
Can recommend investment management and management...just because know they place well.
If you have some solid internships would highly recommended
Why would you recommend investment management over something like the corporate finance/banking and international finance/finance MSc at Cass? Aren't they all pretty much the same as you can virtually pick a ton of your classes?
So the question has got to be, why do some people say Cass is not that good? The facilities look amazing, it's right in the middle of the biggest financial center in the world, virtually all bulge bracket banks recruit there and go to the career fair, a lot of people say it's a great school, apparently lots of students land IB FO gigs. So what's the deal?
Is it simply a matter of people having/not having internship experience going in that determines whether or not you'll be satisfied with what the school offers?
p.s. the other day, a friend of mine who has tons of family members that work in banking told me to look into a very good school in London for my master degree. I asked which school. He said "Cass" and talked about how underrated it was and that it places extremely well.
i did IM so can recommend it. Should check out the curriculum's..yes you can pick a bunch of classed but first semester is pre-set classes for that degree.
think internships/work exp. play a large role in success.
Another general question about the recruiting process for MSc students. I know that usually most of the positions are filled with interns from summer internships, so are people who are attending a one year MSc program at Cass/LSE/etc. applying for grad roles or intern positions after graduation?
