JeffSkillingWhy did you go to school in NYC if you want to be in LA?

If only people did thinks that make sense...lol

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

Maybe because Columbia > UCLA. Maybe.

Not if you want to stay in LA...

You would still interview through OCR then show interest in their LA office during your first round. All banks have decent sized offices with CS/MS/GS/Moelis the best.

LA offices in terms of quality in that order?

Not in that order. But those are the best places.

CS and MS are the largest as far as people. MS originates all their west coast M&A from the LA office. GS is strictly consumer I believe. Moelis is obviously a great place. JPM is pretty small with about 10 bankers. UBS still a good presence, it's just they keep losing people. Can't really speak about the rest.

Nobama88Sometimes getting away from where you grew up and were spoon fed all your life helps you grow up a bit.

Assuming he isn't talking about Grad School or Law, people should really move away for undergrad. You really get a different perspective moving to a city where you dont know a single person.

Exactly.

NyctolaI'm from LA man, i love it there haha. NYC is cool but I need more space, and my car, and the beach lol

haha the beach and sun is nice but the car thing...i hate the jammed freeways in the afternoon... you cant get anywhere! :P
