Throw out Piper right away and you are down to three.
HL Chicago isn't as strong as other offices IMO. So I'd go Baird or CS. Not sure what groups CS runs out of Chicago, so I can't get you down beyond that. Baird MW is strong, even though MW isn't a great place to live. Chicago is only 1.5 hours away and so is Madison and it's not like you will have much time to notice anyhow.
Congrats by the way!
CS Chicago > Baird Milwaukee > HL Chicago > Piper.
CS Chicago lost their head MD to Jefferies and haven't been doing as well since (from what I read in other threads). However, of your choices, I think CS Chicago is the best.
I'd agree with CS Chicago then Baird. Eliminate PJ
why does piper get so much shit? help a finance noob out
Worse deal flow/exit opps than any other decently well-known bank. I'd still take piper over most things outside IB and over small boutiques
Surprisingly still has some exit opps, but as the M&A flow disappears, it's only a matter of time.
Piper used to be part of US Bank. Since it was spun out, it has been downhill. Recently (last 2-3 years), things have gotten real bad. All of the top talent has fled and it can't retain any decent staff to support deals or MDs to bring in deals. Healthcare is the only semi-reputable group still, but even that has fallen off.
SA or FT?
Thanks for the help-will likely take CS. All SA positions
I would keep recruiting (unless you have to sign immediately). CS, while it is the best of the options you listed, is still a fairly weak platform out of Chicago. Still pretty early in the recruiting season, and if you are at a place that only gets recruited by Chicago banks, I would wait for WB, JPM, MS, and GS (all of which I would take over Chicago CS) if they have not recruited yet. If you can get all of the 4 offers you listed then you are a strong enough candidate to get any of the others I listed.
Blair is stronger than Chicago CS? How so?
