Paid monthly not bi-weekly?

Incoming FT An1 at sector focused M&A boutique - just recently found out that base is only paid out monthly and is standard across the entire firm. Is this normal? I had thought it was bi-weekly which had been the case for SA.

Any thoughts on this? Haven’t heard of any other firms still doing this these days and am under the impression this is an old fashioned blue-collar practice
