Palm appoints Morgan Stanley to evaluate Options

Palm has appointed Morgan Stanley to evaluate possible options : 1. Sale to another firm (Nokia, Motorola, Hewlett Packard (Mobile Devices Division), etc) 2. Sale to PE Firm 3. Possible acquisitions (Current Cash on balance sheet = $500 million)

Morgan Stanley (Menlo Park team) has had a strong relationship with Palm, advising the firm on its acquisition of Hand Spring. It also advised 3COM (along with Goldman Sachs) on the spin-off of Palm through an IPO in 1999.

It looks like Nokia and Motorola are tipped to be the most likely firms to acquire Palm.

Any thoughts on the above ?
