PE/HF recruiting on December 31 Bonuses

hey all,

i work in IBD and we get our bonuses on a December 31st schedule (so bonuses get paid late Jan/Early Feb.)

does anybody have any advice on how to approach PE/HF recruiting? if i do recruiting on a june schedule, i essentially work 6 months for free. Does anybody have any experience with this? Do you just try to recruit off-cycle and hope that there are openings at PE firms in Feb timeframe?

Thanks in advance
