Pension on financial statements

All,

Anyone have experience in dealing with pension (defined benefit) on the financial statements?

Believe there is usually a book pension expense line on the income statement, and also cash contribution line on the cash flow. If so, is the pension expense line on income statement tax deductible / an actual cash item? Or is it reversed on the cash flow statement and just cash contributions is taken out. Thanks.
