cingular, 8700. But I've seen a lot of different blackberries and some people using t-mobile, etc. New models approved at my bank are the pearl and 8800. I'm waiting till the curve gets approved by IT/purchasing and then hoping the my 8700 coincidentally stops working. (or just fork up $200 and get a personal one and hook it up on the network). All blackberries come with brickbreaker. A new blackberry is nice, but you also don't want to out do your MD. If you've got nicer stuff than them, they're not happy.

"you also don't want to out do your MD. If you've got nicer stuff than them, they're not happy."

So true. This also applies what business suit you wear, what seat you get on the plane, where you spend your vacation/weekends, how pretty your girlfriend is, etc.

As far as suits and vacations go, MDs can afford them. But if your MD has to go to Rochester to spend the holidays with his in-laws, don't talk too much about your trip to Miami Beach (he'll be resentful that an analyst had a better time than him).

Airplane seat assignments might be luck, or you might have more miles on that particular airline that year than an MD does. He will still say to himself "I'm only bringing along this guy to carry the pitchbooks, why the hell is his seat better than mine? I've paid my dues. I'll see to it that he's forced to pull a couple all nighters next week. That ought to wipe the smug smile off his 23-year old face."

A better looking girlfriend? Of course the 23 year old will have a better shot at having a gorgeous girlfriend than the 40 year old MD. The MD should feel proud one of his guys has a gorgeous girlfriend.
