Prestige on Wall Street: Oxbridge PhD in Physics vs Harvard MBA

Hey all, what's up?

As far as the likes of McKinsey, Goldman Sachs etc. are concerned, what's more impressive? PhD in Physics from Oxbridge + a bit of good breeding (joke), or an MBA from a top American university like Harvard?

Unless you want to spend a decade or more locked in a lab and never talk to a girl I would just get the MBA.

Plus you have a high liklihood of failing out and not making it to the PHD if you are not a math god and love physics.

Let's say that getting a physics PhD is more prestigious than a Harvard MBA to McKinsey & BCG. Even if that is the case, a Harvard MBA is still pretty damn prestigious and would set you up for a job at such a place really well. But if your goal is to work at a place like MBB, why in the hell would you spend 5 to 7 years of your life getting a PhD in arguably the most difficult subject? If a physics PhD is 10/10 prestige, a Harvard MBA is 9.9/10 prestige.

Oh god, this question. The PhD is harder, but Harvard is pretty fucking prestigious. No one is going to defer to you with a PhD.

And at the end of the day, money is prestige. The Harvard MBA will have a number of years gaining experience, making relationships and earning money. By the time you have your theoretical PhD, the Harvard MBA will have years on the street and the connections that go with it.

Don't be a nerd, get your MBA...but both are very prestigious.

Work on other things.

Hit the gym, whiten your teeth, use retinol creme every night and inject yourself with HGH Peptides. Drink plenty of water. Don't hold in your farts, but don't be too loud about them either. Everything in moderation. Just win.

  1. Takes 3 months or so to notice but well worth it. And don't forget the Retinol.
