Private Credit or Investment Banking

I have two offers for post grad. Any insights would be helpful:

1) Private credit (mezz fund) analyst role in a tier two city at a 2B AUM firm

2) Investment banking analyst in NYC at a very reputable/well know firm but in a lower group, think ECM, DCM, secondary advisory, structured finance

Thanks!

If the mezz fund doesn’t have a history of taking analysts, it may be too lean for people to train you and could be a bad experience. You don’t want to get there, associates / VPs go you don’t know anything I’ll just do this myself and relegate you to sending calendar invites and BS work. Also need to understand level of diligence they do etc

The BB/EB offer if it’s in cap markets group that doesn’t model there are precedents for people to move internally or externally eventually tho I’m not sure how much of an uphill battle that can be but I have seen people do it
