Based on the most helpful WSO content, Project Destined is primarily focused on the commercial real estate (CRE) sector. It's an initiative that aims to educate and mentor individuals from underrepresented groups, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds, to create pathways into the CRE industry. While the skills and experience gained from a program like Project Destined could be valuable in many areas of finance, its direct application is more aligned with CRE roles rather than investment banking (IB).
However, the financial acumen, networking, and understanding of real estate transactions you could gain from Project Destined may indirectly benefit your IB goals, especially if you're looking at IB roles with a focus on real estate or related sectors. The key is to leverage the skills and experiences from the program to showcase your broader finance capabilities and interest in IB.
If you're aiming for a career in IB, you might want to consider programs or internships that are more directly aligned with investment banking. These would typically involve more exposure to financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring in a wider range of industries beyond real estate.
Project destined is a joke, and is a good steppingstone for people who have no résumé experience. They do have great corporate sponsors, but mainly for DEI purposes, and no real training/skills are gain from doing this but great for the résumé and great for connecting with future employees as students are usually partnered up with corporate sponsors.
i’d disagree, you can do what u make of it. a lot of kids slack and do nothing but a lot take the modeling class etc and become pms - depends on what u want from it
