Proper length of a networking call

Hey all, incoming freshman here at a lower tier target school (think Notre Dame/Berkley /Williams) who has been networking with alums at BBs over the past few days. Since I’m relatively inexperienced, I wanted to get your takes on how to properly conduct a networking call, specifically with regards to the length and content balence of the call. How long is too long? Is less than 15 minutes too short? What should the general balance be between asking for advice and learning about their career and just generally making friendly banter. Thanks!

30 min max. Want to hit 15-20 min for the chat itself. The rest should be small talk at the beginning and recruiting talk at the end

I have found alot of success making small talk at the beginning for 5 minutes or so and then giving overviews of backgrounds/what you want to accomplish and then diving into questions. As for questions, I think it is really important to be genuine. I had a list of questions I would ask when I started networking but found alot more success when I started just actually asking about stuff i didnt know. I was scared of looking dumb at first but especially in your case they know youre just a freshman so just ask whatever you want to know about banking. Also remember its important to keep these relationships going over the course of the year(s) until SA apps come out. Hope that helps.
