PTO as Analyst

Recently signed an offer at an MM. PTO is decent IMO, but was wondering if it’s frowned upon as an analyst to take them. Additionally, if you do take PTO for say a week long trip somewhere, I’d assume I’d be working there the entire time? Just wanted some insight from others with real experience on this. TIA

I'd second this.  It's not great practice to use more than 1-2 days off at a time, most of the time.

With that said, I left the city to 'work remote' in the middle of the quietest part of summer, and effectively took vacation when there was 0 going on.

It also depends on your firm / group / culture as to how you manage it.  I communicate with my team about what I'm doing, and draw (loose) lines about what I'm willing to do.  I've had success with the idea that if I'm on vacation, I will do everything in my power to be online for part of the day, with the tradeoff that I will absolutely not be online in any capacity for another part of the day.  I'll tell my team "I'm around this morning, then I'm headed to a party on the beach", or "I'm going out fishing in the morning, but I'll be back by 2pm".  I ask for 2 'absolute 0' days a year - Thanksgiving and the 4th of July.  Thanksgiving, the world can get fucked - that's for family, full stop.  4th of July I'll take a call, but the odds are I'm drunk and it's loud, and usually people figure out after the first call that I'm not worth calling back until the next day.
