Q on An1 bonus
Got my BB RO letter today and saw that bonus was left to be entirely discretionary with no suggested range. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Tysm!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not uncommon for bonuses, especially at the Analyst 1 (An1) level, to be discretionary without a specified range. Many BB (Bulge Bracket) banks leave bonuses at junior levels to the discretion of performance reviews, group performance, and overall firm profitability. However, if you're concerned, it might be worth discussing with your HR representative or a trusted senior colleague to understand how bonuses have historically been handled in your group or bank.

How would we know what to expect/TC?
Common for PE, not common for IB to give bonus ranges. Even for PE, you will see slight differences based on how well your team did in either direction. IB bonuses are much more variable, so there is no target number given.
