Question Regarding Background Checks

Hi, I'm a sophomore at a state school and I was wondering if future employers can find out about my education history. I was a former student at another state school, but dropped out due to bad grades. I enrolled in my local community college a year later without letting them know I dropped out of my previous school. Now, I'm at another state school with credits transferred from my local community college. I was wondering if there's any way future employers can find out about my previous school without it being disclosed in my resume. I regret doing horribly my freshman year but there's no going back now and I'm just hoping it doesn't come back to haunt me later in life.
