Recommendation from MD

Hi All,

Hoping to get some guidance from y'all. I recently had a call with an MD at a MM IB and it ended with him saying he would be willing to help me get an internship with the firm (not sure how much effort is actually put towards this) and I know my resume was passed along to the recruiting team. First question is, how much weight does an email from an MD with my resume have in getting an interview, and second, should I submit an application on their online portal now or wait until I hear from HR?

Appreciate the help.

i have a similar question. The MD at the firm i interned at this summer gave me an amazing recommendation, and while the firm is definitely not a first tier firm, he is an MD nonetheless with a Wharton MBA and 20+ years of experience on the street and as a former partner of the firm his recommendation should undoubtedly help out.

is there any way to bring it up or to give it to recruiters without coming off as tacky?
