Reneg BB Commericial Banking for MM IB FT

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice on how to approach my current situation. I accepted a Commercial Banking offer at a BB in a Tier 2 city because they only gave me one week to decide, and in this job market I didn’t want to risk it.

However, I just received an offer for MM Investment Banking in NYC, which I’d honestly prefer. I’m now wondering what the best move would be here.

For context:
I’ve heard there’s a decent chance of lateraling internally at the BB after a year or two.

My university technically frowns upon reneging, but it’s more of a “they’ll be annoyed for the year” type of thing rather than a serious punishment.
