Reneging on offer during first day?

Previously accepted a ECM offer from a MM bank with my start date being on Monday; however, I’m thinking about possibly reneging on Monday morning by sending an email to the team and then not showing up.

Besides getting blacklisted at that bank, are there other consequences that I need to consider here?

Upon further reflection, I don’t feel like the new job aligns with my interests and end goal, and feel that it is mutually beneficial to renege Monday morning as opposed to starting and quitting shortly after.

Do you have another job lined up? If not, stay with your bank and get another job first.

Honestly I think the same advice applies here as for those considering reneging a summer analyst opportunity. Obviously don’t tell your current bank where you’re going after, don’t update LinkedIn immediately, etc. When I was considering reneging, a VP at the bank I ended up signing at told me that I should optimize for whatever would help me learn the most in the long term. I’ll let some more experienced people weigh in though since I’m an incoming first year as well.
