Royal Victoria Docks (London)
Anybody have experience of living in the Royal Victoria Docks area? I'll be an SA in CW this summer. One stop on the DLR and two on the Jubilee sounds like a decent commute to work. I've got an offer from a friend to rent a room for a decent price. I'm just wondering if "everyone" else will be living in Halls and networking, etc. Any +ves or -ves in living east of CW?
The Docklands area is not the most exciting place to live in. But if you are in IBD I suspect it won't make a difference, and will cost you much less than anywhere in zone 1. Are you with Citi by any chance?
I'll save about 50-70 quid a week by staying there, as opposed to halls. Anybody know how much the commute will cost per day (assuming I only pay one way per day)?
The monthly zone 1-2 ticket is around £90. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/faresandtickets/seasontickets/4805.aspx
On a single fare basis, the tube is £4.60 (at least) off-peak.
Get the monthly ticket.
For others reading this thread, with oyster tube is much cheaper, but I'd still get the monthly.
How often do you all take cabs in London, it seemed dreadfully expensive last time I was there a year ago.
When I pick up the bill, only on my way back from the clubs really. The tube's alright when it's open (and working).
