SA Networking with MBA Aso’s

Hello everyone. Preparing for summer analyst recruiting this winter, mainly targeting BB/EB IBs. I was wondering if MBA associates from my current school have any power with recruiting or leverage with the school teams. Let me know if anyone has some insight on whether it’s a good idea to reach out to them. Thanks.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, reaching out to MBA associates from your current school can be a valuable strategy for networking and recruiting. Here are some insights:

  • Alumni Network: Alumni, including MBA associates, can be highly effective networking resources. They can share their experiences, provide insights about the company and team, and potentially pass your resume along to hiring managers.
  • Building Relationships: Focus on building genuine relationships with these individuals. Show sincere interest in their roles and seek their advice. This approach can help you in the long run, even if there are no immediate openings.
  • Career Fairs and Conferences: Attending career fairs and conferences (e.g., NABA, ALPFA, ASCEND) can also be beneficial. These events provide opportunities to network with professionals and alumni who can offer valuable connections and advice.

In summary, reaching out to MBA associates from your school is a good idea. They can provide valuable insights and potentially help you with your recruiting efforts. Just ensure that you approach them respectfully and show appreciation for their time.

I once spoke to an MBA associate who told me he's involved in summer analyst recruiting from his undergrad alma mater, not his MBA school. I do imagine it varies by firm, however. Can't hurt to try!
