Second major to pair with Econ? From a current Finance + Econ major

I know this has been probably been talked about before, but I am currently planning to major in Finance + Economics. But I’m considering doing Stats or Applied Mathematics + Economics. I also really like STEM related subjects

I know a decent number of people who work in BB/jobs id shoot to get either come from STEM or Econ Backgrounds.

Thanks and I apologize for the redundancy.

If you want IB you should 1000% stick with finance. Econ is fine only if your school doesn't offer a finance major, but otherwise you should do it and people will ask why you're not a finance major if your school offers it.

Stats, math, STEM etc are all pretty difficult and you get zero extra credit in IB for doing those hard majors. Similarly, double major gets very little credit with IB recruiting and is again, a lot of work even with something like econ. Finance major alone + 3.7+ GPA more than checks the academic achievement box, don't overcomplicate it if you don't have to. You're better off having one major and using the extra time to get an off-cycle internship.

Only exception is if you want to recruit for quant roles, which are basically the polar opposite of IB. If you just enjoy the classes but are still aiming for IB, I would do a minor.
