Senior with bad gpa and no experience

Hello everyone,

I am a community college transfer student that is now a senior at a UC school studying Economics and Accounting; I currently have a 2.99 gpa. Furthermore, I posses no experience in Investment banking, Real estate IB, Wealth Management, Financial modeling, etc. In other words I have no finance experience what so ever. My only real experience was management at a J.W. Marriott.

Since this past summer I have been emailing firms in my area for internships. My strategy is that I send out my emails Monday-Friday between (9am-11:00am). Yet there are hardly any replies and those that do, never follow through.

I have this quarter and 2 more quarters to boost my GPA. Currently, I am on schedule to graduate with only taking 2 core classes per quarter from here on out.

Ultimately, my questions for the forum is:

Is there any shot for me? Is there another road I can take to break in?

Should I take more Major related classes to boost my GPA?

General advice is great too.

Thanks

U should get an unpaid private equity internship at a small shop near u. If not, any unpaid internship thats somewhat relevant will only help u.

Even if it does interfere with ur studies, having that solid internship experience, will be better than boosting ur gap .005 points uno what I mean?

Also since it'll be such a small shop u can literally tailor it around any experience u want. Only worked on one lbo model? u can write experience in LBO Modeling, even if that model was only worked on for a few minutes. then u can study on ur own time the modeling and the experience etc.

In all honesty, look up search fund internship. They're easily securable with someone with common sense and drive, pretty much all are unpaid. U can tailor this experience around anything. Just do a quick linked in search of interns with the title search fund analyst or intern, and just look at what they write.

I would start by removing your name from the OP and the specific school you attend. Anonymity is good.

Then, I agree with salad. Before reaching out to anyone, I would highly recommend having technical competency. Understand how the three financial statements flow and basics to valuing a company.

feel free to PM me.

I have seen some classmates with that kind of GPA get good jobs through networking with professionals they know. Do you have any contacts you can reach out to? You can still be ambitious and have a dream but be cognizant of the reality of your current situation.
