Series 79

Hey All -

Has anyone taken the S79TO recently? How was the exam, how long did you study for, was is similar to material you used (currently studying with Knopman), and have any tips or focus points I should look at. Really appreciate it

For anyone who does not know.  FINRA releases a content outline for all their tests. There are like 500 things on the content outline *cough* *cough* just enough for them to pull 75 questions from. just go through every item and learn it and you'll pass with flying colors.

Fairly straightforward. Decent amount of questions that have relatively similar answers. Key here is when going through practice exams, it's extremely important to take the time to understand why the correct answer and is correct and why each of the other options are incorrect. It's worth the extra time and will drastically increase your understanding because the questions on the actual exam will differ from Knopman.

If you've already taken the SIE, you can knock out the S79 TO exam in about 2-3 weeks (depending on your background). I never watched the videos, just read the book once and churned through practice questions. Practice tests are your quickest and most effective method of passing. Do not re-read the book (super unnecessary and hard to find time to do that anyways).

Thread has been beaten to death at this point, but it should only take you about a week or less of studying if you don't really have much on your plate. If you are juggling deals, this should take 2 - 3 weeks to prep for. Don't read the textbook, you should just take notes on the videos, study the class summary, and do as many practice questions as you can. For both the 79 and 63, I was really worried going into both of them because I studied a lot less compared to what I had seen on this website and heard from my peers. For both exams, I walked out feeling like I didn't miss a single question. Definitely take it seriously because you don't want to be that guy who fails.
