Series 79 (new form)
Hi,
Does anyone have any input in regards to the new Series 79 format? I have my SIE, Series 7 and 63.

I took it about a month ago and passed first try. I think it's definitely easier than the old format, but still challenging. What study materials are you using? Knopman was solid for me.
My firm provided me with the STC studying materials. I feel confident with the material, but I wasn't sure how much mathematical questions they will be asking (financial analysis and valuation portion).
Also, I heard that the STC wording is totally different than the actual test.
Yeah, even for Knopman the wording on the actual test was different from the sample questions, with the exam ones typically being more lengthy. I don't think the math is heavily tested, at least it wasn't on my exam. I think I got around half a dozen math related questions.
I used Knopman and was way over-prepared for the exam with those materials. If you can study at work you can take the exam two weeks from receiving materials.
I wasn't able to study at work, I was working full-time but studied after work for sure. I take the test tomorrow, confident in the material, but unsure in regards to calculation portion (financial analysis and valuation).
Lol well if you're takin it tomorrow there's not much to do my man. However you're scoring on the final practice is probably a solid indicator.

I did not use Knopman, I used STC. It was alright...I passed. I felt confident going in, but there were some things that weren't covered by the STC material. Thankfully with my background in finance and having few months of work experience within IB I was able to manage.
What was not covered by the STC material on the S79? Curious because my firm provided me with STC and I have no choice in the matter
How'd you end up doing? I'm in same boat, using STC and wondering what to expect in terms of difficulty of exam vs STC materials. Appreciate any and all advice!
Supposed to take the 79 in 2 weeks - have to study while also working FT and should have time to study early morning / at night. How many hours of studying / how many practice questions are reccomended?
I am using Kaplan so if anyone has any insight on their materials compared to the actual exam that would be helpful. Thanks.
I just took the S79 within the last couple weeks and used KM. There really isn’t that much math on it (6 or 7 questions). The study materials focus a ton on it but it really wasn’t that heavily tested compared to regulation and Offering rules. Felt like I was familiar every question on it that was graded (I was able to tell which 10 questions were the experimental ones). The practice tests I took were harder than the actual exam IMO but if u dont put in the time to learn the regulations/rules it can be difficult. Would easily spend the vast majority of my time there especially without a finance/m&a internship background.
I put in about 50 hours of study time (spread out over 3 weeks) and would recommend 500+ practice questions)
