Should I invest in a financial modelling course before becoming an Analyst?

Hi all,

I will be starting a full time position as a first year IBD analyst next year, my question is if its worthwhile to do a financial modelling course before starting? I really want to do well and be a top performing analyst.

As a background, I did not come from a finance related major, but I have done several IBD internships before this. There is proper training before I hit the desk.

Any advice is much appreciated!

No lol They will teach you everything... You're gonna have no life for the duration of your tenor at IB. Enjoy your life, and instead focus on reading books about dealing with stress and developing a solid mental framework, and learning what hobbies you like doing, as IB will not teach you how to handle weeks of little sleep and on the job stress. But having a strong mental framework, and being more than your job will help with burn-out.

Only if you're doing it b/c you really like it. There's frankly no need to. You'll learn all the fundamentals and group specific practices once you're in training/on the desk. Would doing some prep before make things a bit easier? Probably, but there's really no need. Most of it's pretty quick to pick up. Enjoy the rest of college!
