Should I Mention the Bank Worked as Bookrunners for My Family
I don't know if this sounds stupid, but I'm not sure if I should ever mention if the bank I'm interviewing for worked on the deal for my dad's company's IPO (that he founded).
Just want to make sure if this sounds weird, or would this make the interviewer think negatively of who I am if I ever bring this up. I've never talked about that before, but my friend said I should...
If I should please give me some ideas how I should talk about this in my interviews/applications. Thanks!
I am pretty sure there are other ways to leverage that fact…
i think you can bring it up and spin it to show that you are familiar with the bank's capabilities. you just need to be sure that it doesn't come off as bragging, nor does it sound like you think they owe you anytyhing
to add to my thought, often in interviews you'll be asked "why [our firm] vs other banks?" ; you could use this as an opportunity to talk about how you saw first hand what the banks capabilities are or something to that effect. don't oversell it
Yea that sounds right. I always worry about that sound like bragging or something but I’ll try to mention it in a natural way like what you’ve said. Thanks a lot!
Ask your dad to put in a good word for you through whoever he worked with. Make sure this individual tells your interviewer. You have all the leverage in the world.
