simple Excel question plz help

Hi guys,

I have some data that I need to manipulate and include in a vlookup.

I need to make the following data

NMM Store #0001(in one cell) NMM Store #0003 NMM Store #0004 NMM Store #0005 NMM Store #0006 NMM Store #0007

to show only 1 3 4 5 6 7

Any ideas?

Ok, this was fun :-)

You wouldn't have to use a vlookup fn. Let's assume your data starts in cell A1, then you could use the "Right" function in cell B1, for example:

=Right(A1,1)

I have tried that one before but it doesn't seem to work. I have about 350 of those and they are not all in sequence. For instance it could go from store 0017 store 0018 store 0023 and I want it to display is 17 18 23

the vlookup is used to pull what is associated with this data to a main summary page along with other data.

(I work in the coporate head office of a retail financal services company, if you are curious)

use "text to column" function under tools.

What your NMM Store #0001(in one cell) NMM Store #0003 NMM Store #0004 NMM Store #0005 is not in text (say arguments whatever), you can paste value first, and then convert to columns from text.

you can use "fixed width" option or say after "#".

good luck
