Why do you infer that?
Wait, what? IPOs have been very valuable to me so far in terms of learning. Great way to gain better understanding of market reactions, timing, capital structure, SarbOx. Contrary to the belief of some, you don't just float it out there at a price that sounds good and let it go. Analysts working on IPOs can expect months of grueling labor and plenty of great experience.
personally i prefer debt deals - LBO's etc. as i think they give a better experience from a modeling standpoint, but there is still a lot to be said and learned when working on IPO's.
