Smart followers

it is amazing to me the amount of young smart people who are interested in working in finance without any philosophical introspection about why they want to do it. Our culture is too surface oriented and not introspective. most of you are merely following and it's not surprising because no matter how smart you are you may still be a follower.

How many different versions of this topic are you going to post?

What you consider a lack of introspection is probably just you not agreeing with why they want to do it. If they want to do it because it pays well, then that is why they want to do it. It doesn't need to have a deeper sentimental reason just so that it can justify some d-bag's desire to feel intelligent and deep.

drewallin83its like Hitler say "follow the nazis before you can lead the nazis"

So finance = nazis??? That's a bit of a stretch. There are plenty of hard working good people in the industry. If you dismiss them and see only the bad, then youre misinformed

I have always been interested in the financial markets, esp. equities/eq. derivs. I bought my first stock in high school and was hooked ever since. I love analyzing global events, macro issues, oil, stocks, inflation, GDP, consumer confidence, companies (qualitative/quantitative analysis).

Money is simply a byproduct and I don't care about lemming like behavior or groupthink. I'm simply passionate about it.
