starting bb ib soon, depressed (???) what do

hi guys, starting work pretty soon, all i've been doing is working out and drinking. i do these intense things to distract myself from thoughts and feelings i don't even understand. i work out so hard i can't breathe, i drink so hard im numb to everything. i fuck like a maniac and i can't seem to develop a meaningful relationship with any female. my parents and friends are either pissed off at or worried about me. i don't know what i want and what to do.

how was it for you guys before starting work?

Acknowledging that you have a problem is a good step forward.

1. Try to put restrictions on your drinking (i.e. don't drink alone, drink with people that care about your well being, cut yourself off after X drinks).

2. Reach out to your friends/family that are worried about you and ask them for help/advice/guidance or just use them as someone you can vent out your feelings.

3. Put your mind and energy towards your new job/life (i.e. find an apartment, buy items you'll need, read interesting books about finance/Wall Street)

4. Take on a new hobbies: do morning runs, go hiking, read books, watch/play new sports, learn to cook, practice yoga/meditation, etc.

5. See a therapist if the things above aren't helping.

6. Focus on yourself first instead of worrying about girls, especially since you're in this transition phase in life. You'll find a stable relationship once you start your new job and find stability in your personal/work life. Although, it'll still be a challenge maintain one in IB.

The pandemic may be a factor in your current state, so cut yourself some slack and realize that the isolation may heighten your emotions. Try your best to enjoy the time you have now because you won't have much once you start working.

^same as above comment, seek therapy or any sort of help you can. Or just talk with people you care about if it’s at all possible. I’m also going into IB, happy to chat if you think it’d be of any use

Listen to Alpha Male Strategy (youtube) if you are struggling with women and life in general. Take a step back, find hobbies and try to appreciate your life now that you’re on track to a successful career. Develop meaningful relationships with other people (not just females), have a purpose in life aside from girls (which is IB since you’re already in) and chicks would naturally be attracted to you.
