Summer Internship - I-banking recruiting process?

Hi all, I had a couple questions about the i-banking recruiting process for summer interns. I'm a soph at Cornell majoring in AEM (applied econ & mgmt.) who's realy interested in acquiring an i-banking (possibly an S&T) intern next summer. I have a 3.7+ gpa, but no work experience on my resume. This summer I might be doing a consulting internship back in my home city. Would a consulting internship be attractive on a resume for when I apply for i-banking and S&T internships for my junior summer?

thanks leveRAGE, is there any particular experience that i-banking or S&T recruiters would be looking for in potential interns? or is anything finance-related considered a plus. I've heard setting up your own portfolio is a great way to demonstrate interest in financial markets...

yeah i mean i know some kids who are able to get into boutique or MM banks, but that is also very tough for sophomores (but obviously would look the best on a resume). short of working in the actual industry, any finance experience is a plus (and i would say the bigger the name the better). and yes-starting your own portfolio is a good idea because in just about every s&T interview ive had, ive been asked about market knowledge/a stock pick--by starting your own portfolio (with REAL money), you will much more actively follow the markets and be able to give a solid stock pick (because you would have researched it for your own portfolio)
