I got deferred in the CS/UBS deferrals and I received another offer as a research/development analyst at a top boutique (not EB) bank. Is this worth taking at least for the time being or is it better to wait and try for a banking offer?

Yeah take the offer bro. The deferral seems more like they're trying to get people out the door. In a recession, you want a job period. Give it a couple years for things to improve and then chase prestige or what not.

Half of incoming analysts/associates' start dates were pushed back to Feb 2024, with no sign-on bonuses paid yet. The other half (mostly internationals) had their start dates postponed to end of July 2023. I think the sign is on the wall, even for incoming first years.
