TD Securities New York

Hi All, hope everyone is keeping safe. I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience with TD Securities in New York? They seem to be a growing franchise, especially in the Chemicals and P&U space. The culture seems good, along with the compensation. It honestly seems like like a better place than RBC (culture, hours, comp). I have also head the deal flow is pretty good too. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Nothing wrong with TD.  The reason they have better hours, culture, and comp (though don't think it's materially different than RBC which now pays out more than most bulges and I hear TD is the same) is because they need to have these things to attract people from going to RBC or similar.  RBC was in the same position several years ago when it was trying to build out its franchise.  RBC lost a lot of people in Tech specifically, which is not its best franchise, but TDs senior hires are much newer and not likely to jump ship yet - that happens later when they have more tenure and their guarantees have wound off.  I guess my point is that RBC similarly pays higher and has better culture than somewhere like JPM but that doesn't make it 'better', it may make it better for someone who wants to maximize $ / hour worked but not for analysts looking to jump to Warburg.

can talk about chem and p&u there - dealflow is decent and was expected to pickup after landing a few major ones in 2020 and then last year but its been stagnant

pay this year was actually high. so was RBCs tho.

team culture is probably among the best you will find on wall st.

its a lean team so unless youre a dunce, job stability is very good. but as an analyst id take better options.
