Was terminated a month ago with cause at a large Canadian bank. They said its because of performance issues.
What will show in a background check? I currently have another banking offer in ib but scared of being dinged after they find out the reason I am no longer at my previous employer. During the interview process I was still employed so the company doesn’t know. This is in Canada by the way.

Similar thing happened to me in Canada. Reply to me on non anon and I’ll pm you. I’ll talk to you about how to navigate this. It’s a touchy thing in Toronto/Vancouver even though we don’t have finra because under the table references happen all the time.

I lost an offer because of an under the table reference check. I thought the same as you. HR only discloses dates of employment but that doesn’t stop the team from contacting your past team.
