The Raine Group - Update on culture, reputation and compensation

Hi everyone

I'm currently at a tier 1.5 consulting firm, and I've been looking at places to apply for a 2 year track, before applying for an MBA at a top B-School in the US. One of the firms that I'd been hearing about is The Raine Group, and most information on WSO about them seems to be from 2011. While I'm aware of the basics - they work in TMT, advised some large multi-billion dollar deals in the last couple of years etc, I was hoping to know a little bit more about them in terms of their reputation, brand , type of work (super important) and culture; and also, if possible, get an opinion on my B-school chances post working at the firm.

raine is a solid shop. they're on billion dollar deals because jeff sine owns the softbank relationship.

you get a mix of investing and advisory. you get to execute, find, and source deals even at the most junior level. when i was going through the process with them, i spoke to a guy who was interested in a sport. so he just started making calls to people and was able to get a deal started that was. i believe he was an associate at the time.

would be a great place to be, but don't know how much it would improve your odds for b-school given that you're already at a good consulting firm.

raine also expects their people to stay for the long haul, so don't know why you'd go there expecting to leave and i don't know if they'd be happy if they found that out about you.
