The UBS tech team by itself has plummeted UBS's reputation on this forum. If it didn't exist, everyone would just think UBS is overall a meh US IB but a top tier WM. Now people think it's not only that but also toxic. Is this fair to the whole bank? Probably not. Is this funny af? Yes. UBS Tech is basically an experiment gone wrong that somehow has yet to be fixed despite it being nearly a year+.

Good ol Barclays nepotism at UBS. There's a strong correlation between how shit a team is and how many Barclays hires they have. For example, tech and M&T have the most Barclays hires and they are the most shit. LevFin, Sponsors, and Industrials have no Barclays hires, they are by far the best 3 groups at UBS.

Didn't want to directly say that, but certainly seems the case from what people here have said. It's interesting how consumers and HC seemingly have at the very least somewhat improved from previous iterations and they had some Barclays people come in. Could just be because it was very few seniors and it was more intentional hiring, but still kind of shocking to see how little the tech and M&T hires from Barclays have paid off especially since from the internal credit contributions it does seem like some of the Barclays HC and Consumer bankers brought in decent relationships and flow. Hard to know what went wrong, would love some further commentary from tech and M&T people on it as to why the hires have seemingly brought in nothing.

lol why is someone at a VP-equivalent level / compensation forging meal receipts?

I asked the question above about which bank this guy came from because a few years ago at my bank... a VP got laid off for altering Uber receipts.

and I think the answer to your question is that there are many people who work in banking who are very smart about small details but moronic about the bigger picture and life decisions.
