Thoughts on Cantor IBD in London?

Hi,

What are your thoughts on cantors IBD especially their healthcare and PEI (power, energy & infrastructure) teams? They seem to be doing extremely well right now and they get to travel a lot etc

IBGOD22, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Maybe one of these threads could point you in the right direction:

I've heard excessively negative things about the culture of their Healthcare IB team in NYC. I know of one person in particular that turned down an offer because he said he reached out to alums on LinkedIn and nearly all of them had shitty things to say about the group.

Also, maybe my settings only show US deals, but if I look at their transaction history on CapIQ for 2022 it's awfully crummy. They're an Equities business through and through and equity capital markets activity for unprofitable biotech companies is NOT doing well right now. They crushed in 2021 due to a strong SPAC practice (think they made it to number 2 or 3 on the league table) and due to all of the small little Biotech follow-on type of deals they do. Both of those wells have totally dried up.

I only see six deals closed in 2022 and all were either low-level co-mgr roles, tiny ATM deals and/or an offering of debt for Cantor Fitz itself

Cantor doesn’t really have an HC group in London. The PEI group is largely based out of London and has been doing pretty well across sectors, particularly strong in renewables and transport.

Worked opposite their PEI team on a transaction (they were sellside

its basically the former cacib PUI M&A team

- model quality was pretty poor
- lmm and mm transactions (rarely get big tickets) - though this is the case for most boutiques (also more of a volume shop)

though, they do all sub sectors globally, not just emea (this is great for juniors), pay decently, and the team head is a nice guy (have had several 1-1 phone calls with him)

would definitely interview if interested in PUI

No idea about the other points, but I can tell you for sure that analyst pay is above BB (75k base for A1) with 100%+ bonuses at A1
