Thoughts on Ratings Agency
What are everyone's thoughts on ratings agency these days?
I previously worked in IB coverage, but my team was impacted by an RIF. It was a challenging period to navigate, particularly given the limited opportunities in the sector I was covering at the time. Ultimately, I transitioned to a role at a credit rating agency.
I’m now evaluating my next career move and weighing whether pursuing an MBA would help facilitate a broader career transition or whether if its do-able to pivot directly from ratings back into investment banking or the buy side.
Why not pivot into a ratings team at a BB?
Even more chil than credit/risk. Just plug financials into agency models that spit out ratings break points.
And every piece of feedback you give, can literally be taken right from the published credit reports lol. Sweetest gig in banking imo.
Thanks,
It is something that is viable but even at a BB, I would be pigeon hole into being just a ratings guy. So exploring other options.
Life could be much worse being a ratings guy at a BB. Solid job security, never have to work on anything complex and still clip decent money compared to the average citizen.
