To All The Future Investment Banking Prospects

Hope everyone is having a great day so far. I just wanted to take a couple of minutes and write a post for all the monkeys still in school hoping to pursue a career in investment banking and the monkeys who are currently interviewing and on the job hunt.

I am currently in my third year as an IB analyst. The first two I spent as a generalist at a middle market bank, and while I was there, I spent a lot of time networking and building relationships so that I could move into the position where I am at today.

A couple of months ago I started my new position at a BB within their leveraged finance group. I knew about WSO, but never created an account or looked to far into it as I was in my search to lateral from a MM bank to a BB. All of the interview prep and networking, I did by spending hundreds of hours searching different sites and creating my own version of a technical and behavioral interview guides, rather than searching for a prep pack and spending a couple of hundred bucks on it.

Looking back, I wish I would have utilized this website as resource sooner. I recently had the ability to read through the investment banking interview prep guides that WSO has to offer, and it is right in line with everything that you need in terms of content for both behavioral and how to tackle the technical questions. It definitely would have saved me a ton of time, and given me more time to spend prepping for the actual interviews rather than wasting time creating my own prep pack.

If you currently in school hoping to pursue an IB career, or you are already in the job search, I highly recommend you spend the money to buy the pack. If you take the time, read through, and learn the material, you are bound to land the job you want at the firm you want.
