Top BB Activism Defense vs Citi coverage vs JEFF coverage

Was fortunate enough to get these 2027 SA offers. Feeling really lucky but also extremely perplexed right now. Any help is appreciated:
1) Shareholder Activism at GS/EVR/JPM
2) Citi coverage IBD
3) Jeff coverage IBD
All nyc.

Im really interested in activism and currently leaning towards the top bb option. But I know that exits are practically non existent because of 0 modelling. How common is a potential lateral to coverage/m&a from a group like this?

Can't speak to the shops you listed - but I've seen someone do a summer at PJT Camberview (their version of EVR SDSA) and lateral to PJT's strategic advisory practice. If I had to guess - it's not easy - but def doable. I'm not sure if Bloomberg has released an updated activism league tables for 2025 but if I remember correctly GS leads with # of public activism defense mandates. That said, a lot of the EBs are really involved but their work isn't always public from what I understand about the industry - so take the league tables with a grain of salt.

Regarding exits - you can exit into a lot of untraditional but cool roles. Know someone who lateraled to a corporate investment/development role at the NFL. Might not be possible to lateral to the buyside, but just giving you random context that might be helpful. Congrats!

I appreciate the insight. The non-traditional part kinda scares me since I’ve always been more or less risk-averse/inclined towards a more structured path. Do you think the brand name and experience at a top activism group is better than citi/jeff generalist ibd?

take my advice with a grain of salt as I'm still a student as well, but I think if you want to cater to your risk-averse personality - I would lean towards Citi or Jeff. Not familiar with those platforms but from my understanding they have a great brand name as well and offer a bit more flexibility. Then again, this is only for a summer so it goes back to the PJT Camberview story - might be hard but it'll just take a bit of extra work.
