Top Tier PM Group vs MM S&T
Hi guys,
I would love to hear your opinion on that matter. I have to decide between a MM DCM offer and Top Tier (think BlackRock/PIMCO) Portfolio Management offer. My ultimate end goal is IBD/PE, but I have a few more summers to do internships. I would enjoy PM more since I think it is more interesting work, but on the other side fixed income is not very relevant for IBD/PE down the line. What do you think is more relevant? The PM offer has more prestige than the MM bank, but I don´t know if that offsets the less relevant work.
I am happy about insights from more experienced guys, how would bankers look at those experience differently for recruiting?
Thanks in advance.
Anyone? I am really having a dilemma here
Top-tier PM.
Top tier PM, especially if you have a few more summers.
Echo pm role
PM assistant vs. S&T at BB (Originally Posted: 07/06/2010)
Which is a better gig? to assist traders/research/pm's (ie getting the pm instructions down to the traders, help with research) with potential to go into research then pm or trading at a BB?
but that depends what u want to be isnt it? but nonetheless i will say trading at BB will be better
Essentially, this is what you just asked:
"Is it better to assist a trader or be an actual trader".
.....seriously?
buyside though? anyone care about that?
I hate to say it, but this is a great time to be on the sell side.
most pm assistants never become a trader or a pm... just something to consider
what happens to them? are they in that role for life?
haha hmm yeah sort of, coz i've met analysts for PM and yet there is assistant for PM.
i think assistants can go on be PMs at different firms
