Toxic workplace

What’s the most toxic situation you’ve had to deal with in our office / with your team and how did you address it? Additionally, who’s the most toxic person you’ve had to deal with professionally and how do you navigate that relationship?

My group’s culture is becoming quite stifling and overwhelming. I need some advice on how to keep pushing on and to not let it get me down too much.

Verbally degraded in front of other analysts. Told I was “an accountant and not a banker. But I guess you didn’t learn anything in accounting” or “next time you show a guy like that… I’m gonna fire you”. The situations were I was working on a model trying to get it to tie and my md blew up. The other instance was where I presented a blank model to a client.

Tips:

  1. Find someone to vent about this. Just someone you can spend 10 minutes about all your feelings. Can be your parents or friends. (Avoid venting to a coworker if you can)
  1. Reflect about the situation. Seriously think if the mistakes you made actually warranted the abuse. Ie not having a CIM ready when you said you would with a 9am meeting. versus md wants to make him or her feel superior so shits on you
