Travel as an Analyst?
Hi Everyone, I am interested in IB at an EB/BB as analyst in M&A or Tech located on Wall Street/NYC
Do IB analysts ever get to travel on company business or is it on your own for vacation?
If so, how much per year and is it on Business/First Class?
If you end up on a technology team at an EB you'll only travel by SpaceX rocket. Middle market can suck it up in AirEmirates.
Yes, analysts do travel for live deals. My company policy is that you can only book business class for flight longer than certain hours regardless analyst or MD.
I'm actually interested in knowing other bank's travel policy. I heard some banks allow business class for any travel.
My BB allows biz travel for a certain # of miles, which is about a transcon. MD and above have a lower threshold which is ~2.5 hours and above.
I dont believe this changes by office location or division. So IB is the same as Compliance, but im sure the latter rarely uses it anyway.
Hotels are approved on a case by case basis so i dont know what the threshold is there, but most people stay in nicer places unless youre trying to stay in a suite at the Mandarin youre probably fine.
Sounds interesting. Can you walk me through a deal process and how it leads to traveling if you don't mind?
Thanks!
Sometimes I get to take Ubers to drop books off at meetings. Does that count?
My dad once went on a roadshow for a debt offering. The IB (JPM/GS) booked a private jet to fly across the USA. Whole IBD team went including him and someone else from the corporate.
If you want to travel in first go to get a job in consulting mate
