UMich Ross course selection

I am wondering what classes someone would recommend to someone who is an econ/math student in LSA at The University of Michigan seeking an investment banking internship/job.

LSA students are limited to 20 credits in Ross and there is an investment banking track through Ross' Finance focus.

Investment Banking

Essential: FIN 300 - Financial Management----------------------------3 credits FIN 308 - Capital Markets and Investment Strategy----------1.5 credits FIN 309 - Fixed Income Securities/Markets------------------1.5 credits FIN 314 - Corporate Investment Decisions-------------------3 credits FIN 317 - Corporate Financing Decisions---------------------3 credits FIN 380 - Options and Futures in Financial Decision Making---1.5 credits

Recommended: FIN 315 - Financial Institutions------------------------------?? FIN 325 - Entrepreneurial Finance----------------------------3 credits FIN 329 - Financing Research Commercialization---------------3 credits FIN 352 - Macroeconomic Analysis of Capital Markets----------?? FIN 412 - International Finance Management I-----------------1.5 credits FIN 414 - International Finance Management II-----------------1.5 credits

I have also taken an Accounting Principles 1 course a few years ago but a refresher would be nice and Ross offers a Non-Bus Accounting course for 3 credits or the traditional Ross route which consists of 2 Accounting Principles courses at 3 credits each.

Assuming I utilize all 20 credits available at Ross, which of the previous courses do you recommend since there is more than 20 credits listed.

Thank you in advance for your advice

If you feel you do not need to take the Accounting classes within Ross, or can take the non-business Accounting class then I would recommend the following:

Fin 300 Fin 308 Fin 309 Fin 314 Fin 317 Fin 380 Fin 412 Fin 414 Fin 340 (Trading class)...

You need to remember that Fin 300 is a pre-requisite for all these classes so you need to take that first. If you would like to do all those classes before you graduate, you honestly need to get started as soon possible (if you are still a sophomore). If you are junior, you won't be able to do them all. Even though the classes may be 1.5 credits or 3 credits, they require a LOT more work relative to a 1.5 or 3 credit class within LSA.

I thought you were "currently a freshman but will be obtaining a BBA from Ross School of Business" guy wanting to go to Goldman. Surprised you found the time to take all those classes.

I would definitely take ACC312 as well as Fin300, Fin314, Fin317. OP, check if you can take all the finance electives, for there maybe some restrictions for LS&A students.

Based on the comments above and what friends of mine in Ross have told me, not all of those finance courses above are very beneficial. What other courses in Ross are beneficial and something you would recommend? I take my friends' advice seriously but if anyone that has graduated or had great internship experience has an opinion on this, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
